- writing is sublime. it has a sort of depth and richness that contemporary American literature lacks. I wonder what else I’ve been missing by only reading translated work
- thematically rich. ideas of the false promise of the American dream, of money
- excellent period piece
- was a little too explicit in its messages. some more work on the part of the reader could be nice
