UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter) is a medium-speed digital signalling bus standard.

In terms of stats:

  • Two traces
  • Up to 1.5 Mbit/s
  • Impedance not specified
  • No clocking necessary for synchronisation
  • Serial bus routing topology
  • Low driver output impedance

The two trace connections are single-ended and should be routed with a shared ground connection.
