Close to (but not) interchangeable with solid-state physics.
A nifty set of videos discussing scientific fraud in the materials science community examining organic transistors was a pretty cool watch
Why do we care?
As electrical engineers, why should we care about materials science? Oftentimes key properties of materials, like inductance, resistance, or capacitance, are material properties. Semiconductor physics also overlaps quite a bit with materials science.
