Magnetic flux is a flux integral, the amount of magnetic field that pierces the surface. We measure in webers (, ).
Formula
The net flux through a surface is given by:
where is perpendicular to the differential area .
In general, we can change the magnetic flux through a coil by:
- Changing the magnitude of the magnetic field within the coil
- Changing the total area of the coil that lies within the magnetic field
- Change the angle between the direction of the field and the plane of the coil
