There is no book quite like Beloved. The weight of Morrison’s storytelling elevates it past being just a novel, to a story with the harshness and absolute horror of one that will remain embedded in the fabric of modern American literature. The prose will sit with you long after you finish the book, and it puts other works of fiction to shame in its unflinching depiction of the horrors of American racism and slavery.

This is a classic worth reading, perhaps one of the most important books in English-language writing.
