Servers are big computers that are specialised to be performant in single complex applications or many small jobs (web servers). They generally have higher performance CPUs, memory capacity, and storage capacity. They’re also in general designed to be dependable: so that they don’t crash.
Dominant players in the server space: HP, Lenovo, Dell, Super Micro. Most server environments are in Linux. Some are in Windows.
