Quarks are a broad class of elementary particle that forms the Standard Model of physics. There are six flavours of quarks:
- Up and down (u, d)
- Top and bottom (t, b)
- Charm and strange (c, s), alternatively truth and beauty
Quarks combine in two ways to form other particles called hadrons.
- The combination of three quarks is a baryon.
- A quark and an anti-quark is a meson.
