Password managers are a type of software that stores and helps us retrieve passwords. The idea is pretty simple: instead of using a common password, which can be vulnerable during large hacks, we use individual difficult to determine passwords to maximise safety.
I have used:
- Bitwarden, currently. It’s open source and largely not as restrictive as LastPass.
- LastPass, previously. It worked well but there were arbitrary device limitations added on after a few years of use.
- Password Safe, previously. A major drawback of this is that it’s solely offline.
- Opera browser. For obvious reasons it’s better to use a dedicated app.
