Reinventing the train for no apparent reason.

The problem with the idea of hyperloop is that we have perfectly functional long distance transportation in high-speed trains and subways (in an urban environment). Focusing on a technology that largely doesn’t exist yet and is unproven means we delay getting quality public transit and high-speed rail.

The biggest proponents were recorded saying they intended to delay HSR from making it to North America by introducing an idea like this — with no credible plans to actually try building hyperloop.1
